Fatter amerika might have more to do with genetically modified seeds from behemoths like Monsanto, in combination with a lot of other things like; McDonald's, the TV, suburban sprawl (where you HAVE to drive), etc. etc.

Besides, I like having a few fat people around, makes me look more svelte !!

Wow. Your advanced age must be catching up with you. ;-)

" The *young guy* who helped us" and griping about the the lack of responsibility in kids today.

Back in my day we wore wooden clogs to run through the snow uphill just to avoid starving. AND WE LIKED IT. :-)

Awesome that you'll be running again, new shoes are always GREAT!

Ironically, I just read a phenomenal article about the incredible shrinking clothe sizes in the U.S. Couldn't find the actual article but found this one: http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2006/05/05/0_is_the_new_8/

If I find the more recent one I'll share.
I totally agree with you, why excercise to lose weight, just let the manufactuers adjust their sizes to fit "Fatter America".

Glad you are running again, and I hope those Wave Creations are good for you. I like you're point about the 'everyone gets a trophy' culture. I think what was a well-intentioned shift toward being more supportive of all competitors during the 60's and 70's, moved into the 'everyone's a winner...even if you barely gave any effort at all' in the 90's.
